SONIQ
Equalizer & Bass Boost
Privacy Policy

Sound stays yours.

This Privacy Policy explains how SONIQ Equalizer & Bass Boost ("SONIQ", "the App", "we", "us", or "our") accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Android application.

Effective date: September 14, 2026
Package: com.equalizer.parametriceq
Platform: Android
Your audio is processed on your device.

SONIQ uses Android audio APIs for real-time equalization and signal analysis. The App does not create or save audio recordings, and it does not upload raw audio, waveform data, or FFT/spectrum samples to our servers or Firebase.

1. Overview

SONIQ is an audio equalizer and sound-processing application. The App can apply audio effects, manage presets and device-specific audio settings, analyze the current audio output for adaptive features, show notifications, retrieve remote app configuration, and let you optionally send feedback.

We follow a data-minimization approach: audio processing and most configuration data stay on the device. Network services are used only for specific functions described in this Policy.

Raw audio
Not uploaded
Audio analysis is performed locally on the Android device.
Usage analytics
Off by default
Firebase Analytics is enabled only if you turn usage analytics on.
Advertising
No ad personalization
Analytics consent explicitly denies ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalization.

2. Audio privacy

Audio privacy is central to SONIQ. The App uses Android's audio-effect framework and the Android Visualizer API to analyze the device's current output mix for features such as adaptive/dynamic equalization, Smart De-Harsh, spatial reactivity, level management, and automatic headroom control.

Android requires the RECORD_AUDIO permission for access to certain Visualizer capabilities. In SONIQ's current implementation, this permission is used for real-time signal analysis associated with audio processing. SONIQ does not use this permission to create or save audio recordings.

  • Raw audio samples are not written to app storage.
  • Raw audio samples are not sent to Firebase or another remote server.
  • Waveform and FFT/spectrum frames used by the audio engine are processed locally.
  • Feedback diagnostics do not include raw audio, waveform frames, or spectrum samples.
  • Usage analytics events do not contain the sound you are listening to.
Revoking RECORD_AUDIO may prevent or reduce functionality that depends on real-time output analysis, while other equalizer functions may continue to work depending on the device.

3. Data we access, collect, or store

In this Policy, "collect" generally means information transmitted off your device. Some information is accessed only on-device and is not collected by us.

Information we do not intentionally collect

SONIQ does not intentionally collect your contacts, precise location, photos, videos, SMS messages, call logs, payment-card numbers, passwords, or raw listening audio. The current App does not provide a SONIQ user-account registration system.

4. Android permissions

SONIQ requests or declares Android permissions only for app functionality. Availability and runtime prompts can vary by Android version and device manufacturer.

RECORD_AUDIO

Used by Android Visualizer-based real-time output analysis. SONIQ does not create or save audio recordings and does not upload raw audio.

MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS

Allows SONIQ to interact with Android audio settings/effect infrastructure required for equalizer processing.

FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE

Allows the audio-processing service to continue operating visibly in the foreground when background equalization is enabled.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Used for the foreground-service notification and, where you permit them, SONIQ update/announcement/tip notifications.

RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED

Used only to support the optional "start after boot" behavior when you have enabled that setting.

REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS

May be used to help keep continuous audio processing reliable when you choose background operation. Battery-optimization controls remain managed by Android and your device settings.

5. Optional usage analytics

SONIQ includes Firebase Analytics, but analytics collection is disabled by default. It is enabled only when you turn on the App's Usage Analytics setting. If you later disable it, SONIQ stops future Firebase Analytics collection through the App and requests Firebase to reset analytics data for the installation.

When enabled, analytics may include events such as:

  • screen views;
  • app-update check results;
  • banner impressions, dismissals, and actions;
  • notification preference changes, notification receipt, and notification opens;
  • whether a feedback submission succeeded or failed and whether diagnostics were included.

SONIQ's analytics configuration explicitly denies Firebase consent for ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalization. We do not use SONIQ analytics for personalized advertising.

Feedback message text and optional feedback email are submitted to the feedback service, not as Firebase Analytics event parameters.

6. Feedback and problem reports

If you choose to send feedback or report a problem, SONIQ transmits the submission to Firebase Realtime Database. A submission can contain:

  • feedback/problem type, category, optional experience score, and the message you write;
  • your email address, only if you voluntarily provide one;
  • App version, version code, Android version, and API level;
  • a server-side submission timestamp;
  • optional diagnostics, only when included with the submission.

Optional diagnostics can include whether the audio service is running, whether a committed setup exists, counts of presets/known devices/audio profiles, selected audio-source and sample-rate/quality/latency information, engine lifecycle/health information, AudioEffect availability/control/band-count status, and spatial-renderer status.

Diagnostics do not include raw audio, waveform samples, or FFT/spectrum frames.

7. Notifications and Firebase Cloud Messaging

SONIQ can use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for app-update notifications, product announcements, and tips/recommendations. Registration is synchronized with your notification preferences and Android notification permission where that permission is required.

When push messaging is active, Firebase may process an FCM registration token, installation-related identifiers, topic subscriptions, app/device information, IP address, and other technical information required to route and secure message delivery. You can change notification categories in SONIQ and can also revoke notification permission in Android settings.

8. Firebase and Google services

SONIQ uses selected Google/Firebase services. These services may process standard technical information such as IP address, app instance or installation identifiers, app/device details, network information, security/integrity signals, and service-specific data necessary to provide their functions. The exact information handled by Google can depend on Android, Firebase SDK, device, region, and service configuration.

Firebase AnalyticsOptional usage analytics; disabled by default in SONIQ.

If you purchase SONIQ through Google Play, payment processing is performed by Google Play. SONIQ does not receive your full payment-card details.

9. Local storage and Android backup

SONIQ stores operational and preference data in app-private storage so it can preserve your setup. Depending on the feature, this can include equalizer settings, presets, working sessions, committed audio state, device assignments/profiles, notification preferences, appearance and accessibility settings, and other configuration information.

The App allows standard Android backup. Except for specific setup/onboarding state excluded by SONIQ's backup rules, eligible app-private data may be backed up or transferred by Android according to your device and Google account backup settings. Such backup is provided and controlled by the Android/Google backup platform, not by a SONIQ account service.

You can generally remove local SONIQ data by using Android's app-storage controls or uninstalling the App. Cloud backups may be retained or restored according to your Android/Google backup settings.

10. When information is shared

We do not sell or rent personal information. Information may be disclosed only in limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Google/Firebase process data on our behalf or as their services require, as described above.
  • At your direction: for example, when you intentionally submit feedback containing information you chose to provide.
  • Legal and safety reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, or valid governmental requests, or to protect rights, safety, security, and prevent abuse.
  • Business transfer: if the App or its developer business is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset transfer, data may be transferred subject to applicable law and this Policy or equivalent protections.

Raw listening audio is not shared because SONIQ does not collect it.

11. Data retention and deletion

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.

  • Local settings and presets: remain on your device until changed, reset, app storage is cleared, or the App is uninstalled, subject to Android backup/restore behavior.
  • Feedback submissions: are retained while reasonably needed to review, respond to, investigate, improve the App, maintain security, or meet legal obligations; they are deleted or anonymized when no longer reasonably necessary.
  • Push messaging data: registration and topic information is managed through Firebase and may remain until registration is disabled/unregistered, the token expires, or Firebase removes it under its service lifecycle.
  • Analytics: when you disable Usage Analytics, SONIQ stops future analytics collection through the App and calls Firebase's analytics reset function. Previously processed or aggregated analytics information may remain for the period configured or required by Google/Firebase.
  • Google/Firebase operational data: is retained according to the applicable Google/Firebase service terms and retention practices.
Because SONIQ currently has no SONIQ user account, there is no account-deletion flow. You may still request deletion of identifiable feedback or other data controlled by us using the contact method below. We may need enough information to locate the relevant submission.

12. Your privacy controls and rights

You can control several privacy-related behaviors directly:

  • leave Usage Analytics disabled (the default), enable it, or disable it again at any time;
  • choose which update/announcement/tip notification categories you want and manage Android notification permission;
  • decline or revoke RECORD_AUDIO, understanding that analysis-dependent audio features may be limited;
  • choose whether to send feedback at all;
  • omit your email address from feedback;
  • choose whether diagnostic information is included in feedback;
  • clear app storage or uninstall the App to remove local app data, subject to Android backup behavior.

Depending on where you live, privacy law may provide rights such as access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent. You may submit an applicable privacy request through the developer contact mechanism described in Section 17.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. App preferences and audio configuration are stored in Android app-private storage, network-backed features use Google/Firebase SDKs and protected network transport, and Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity is used to help reduce unauthorized access and abuse.

No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We therefore cannot promise absolute security, but we work to limit data collection and exposure by design.

14. Children's privacy

SONIQ is a general-purpose audio utility and is not designed to solicit personal information from children. We do not knowingly use the App to collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a feedback submission, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

15. International processing

Google/Firebase services can process information on servers located in multiple countries. As a result, information used by those services may be processed outside your country of residence. Google states that it uses legal and security measures for international data handling as described in its privacy documentation and applicable service terms.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy when SONIQ's features, data practices, service providers, or legal requirements change. When we make changes, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the App or through the store listing.

The version of this Policy published with the current release should be read together with any just-in-time permission or privacy disclosures shown by the App.
